Lions enjoyed a record home crowd of 197 at Rowley Lane as the team made it through to the 2nd Round proper of the FA Vase for the first time.
The day was memorable for the colour and noise provided by 100+ fans from Clapton FC. The ‘Ultras’ did not stop singing and provided a unique element to the day.
Lions were not to be outdone however, as the home support was equally numerous.
Vice Chairman, Nathan Kosky thanked everyone involved; ‘On the field, there has been such a shift in the last two or three years that it’s a massive credit to Andy Landesberg and his team that we are once again making great progress at higher and higher levels having regrouped a couple of years back. With young players performing alongside some older heads. It’s truly exciting times at the club.
‘Off the field there was a special atmosphere, not only with the Clapton fans in the house, but with 100 or more Lions fans – families, Junior players, former players – all coming to appreciate what the team is doing and enjoying a special day at the Lane.
‘Finally a huge thanks to the staff at Rowley Lane who ensured a smooth day and received numerous compliments from our guests’.
Lions will await the draw for the 2nd Round proper on Monday at 1pm – one more win would see Lions go further than they have ever been before on the road to Wembley.
