Welcome to the 2010/11 season.

It seems only a few weeks ago that we were celebrating probably the best Lions season on record, with the 1st team finishing as Premier Division Champions of the Herts Senior County League, the Reserves picking up the Reserve Cup, the Sunday A team emerging victorious in the Cyril Anekstein Cup and the C team gaining last day promotion from MSFL Division 2.

This season sees the Club taking on fresh challenges, with the 1st and Reserves joining the Molten Spartan South Midlands League, our three Sunday Mens teams all playing in the top two divisions of the MSFL, and the Vets A team joining the Garston Vets League, with the B team remaining in the Maccabi Masters League.

The Junior section now has 22 teams, from Under 7 to Under 18, with one team from every age group in the top 2 divisions of the Watford Friendly League, as well as have sides in the West Herts and Maccabi Primary Leagues.

Off the field, we have signed a ground share agreement with Broxbourne Borough V&E FC in Cheshunt, which will ensure that the 1st team meet the facilities requirement for SSMFL clubs whilst all other sides will continue to play at Rowley Lane. We will see two new grass pictures at Rowley Lane, which should be of the highest quality and available from October, and there is little doubt that the 3G, is the best non grass surface any of us are able to train or play on. We also welcome club stalwart Dan Jacobs to the senior committee, and his unabated energy to fundraise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to you all, the Club has put itself at the forefront of Jewish football but if we stand still we will be caught and eventually overtaken. We have a group of first class managers and coaches at all levels as well as the best facilities around so the base is there. It is imperative that more and more of our players, supporters and parents help to keep us improving both on and off the field. As a start we ask you all to pay your subs promptly, turn up on time for training and matches and conduct yourselves in a manner that befits being part of London Maccabi Lions.

We are committed to furthering the opportunities for Jewish footballers within our setup at all age groups and we hope you share our ambition.

Without doubt this is a very exciting time to be involved with the Club and I look forward to seeing you at the Lane during the season.

Keep on Winning in the Lions spirit.
