Lions Win - U14 - Spring Cup Final
05/05/2008

London Maccabi Lions White 2  Park Street Village 0

I am so delighted for all the squad, with 7 new players this season winning the WFL U14 Spring Cup Final  is magnificent.

We warmed up really well although it was quite muggy with the whole Andy Zeller warm up which was good and a bit of
7 a-side before kick off really put us in the mood. We talked about a few things including that important 1st tackle and 1st
header and it all went to plan.
We kicked off and looked up for it from the off, a few nerves but the focus was there, we were 1st to the ball every time
which is so important the back four Jack Wagner, Adam Goldstein, Jake Yudelowitz and Theo Azouz were all getting their tackles and headers in and were playing good football the midfield Josh Cinna, Captain Daniel Green, Samuel Marchant and Doug Carson were working their socks off as were the two up front David Smouha and Sam Lewis, we created several chances Samuel put David through with a header and David was unlucky when the keeper saved and pushed it away for a corner then David came close again when Samuel gave it to Theo and Theo put David through we were causing them all sorts of problems, then from a great attack down the left the ball fell to Doug Carson who volleyed it 1st time into the far side netting, wow, what a goal. He was having a great game working so hard down the left, Daniel was also working extremely hard watching their number 9 who was their most dangerous player coming from midfield while Adam kept a close watch on their number 10 who was
a handful but he dealt with everything and more often clearing up with his pace if we got caught, Arthur Caplin in goal was called upon twice in the 1st half for important saves and didn't seem troubled one he brilliantly pushed round the post for a corner. So we came in at half time 1-0 up.

One change to start with Theo came off Doug moved to left back and Matthew Perlman went to left midfield, this again caused them even more problems and he was involved in a move that led to a corner when the ball fell to Daniel he was unlucky not to put it away then David put Sam Lewis through he beat the player and just shot wide, Yoav Kestenbaum then came on for Jack  and Josh moved to right back straight away Yoav had an influence running through beating a player and hitting a great shot which the keeper just got his fingers to and pushed away for another corner which Yoav took and we nearly scored from then an attack down the right involving Yoav and Josh gave the ball to David who jinked round a player and flew down the right shot low  and the full back stuck his leg out for another corner which David took, the clearance came back to David who 1st time crossed it into the box beautifully and Josh Cinna with his third header on goal put it away, super goal again, they threw everything at us
Jake gave way to Zak Linden who again straight away was involved winning 2 important headers one which was very difficult, Samuel cleared played a 1-2 with Daniel who gave it to David who spotted Samuel running through but he just couldn't get on the end of it.

Adam made loads more clearances with sliding tackles and headers, Harry Krais came on for Sam and Edward Aaronson
came on for Samuel then Arthur made the save of the game with a dipping shot that looked in going over his head he managed to finger tip it over for a corner, the clock was ticking and we held on through 4 minutes of extra time !
Brilliant result brilliant performance.
A few quick mentions Daniel Green was great he marked their player out of the game and still contributed so much when attacking, Samuel Marchant was on top of his game with headers and box to box running, Josh Cinna a super headed goal from David Smouha's perfect ball and Doug Carson deserves a day off, his goal was superb and the effort was amazing I have never seen a player so tired after a game but Man of the Match went to Adam Goldstein who had his best ever performance he never put a foot wrong, marshalled
the back 4 was massive in the tackles, headers and clearances, but really it was a great squad effort you all deserve great credit there is an amazing spirit in this team and I think we can go from strength to strength.
